So 2020 has proven to be the worst year for our world period. We went from the Amazon Rainforest and Australia burning to a global pandemic due to Covid-19. Not only that but the death of George Floyd that sparked a nationwide protest for systemic racism and police brutality. As of right now, I am in California for my internship, so I couldn't be at home in Naples, FL to protest with my friends. My mom has always taught me to love everyone regardless of their skin color or beliefs. Therefore, I have always had a very inclusive network of friends; this incident of a white officer kneeling his knee on the neck of a black man had made me furious with the world. As I was watching that video, I started thinking about my best friend who is Haitian who could get the same treatment like George if he was not careful...

I am really moved by the support of those brave souls who saw injustice and stood in solidarity with the black lives matter movement. Even in this damn pandemic, people refuse to sit at home and just let that heinous act pass by without consequences. Of course not all white are racist nor all policemen are corrupt. However, if a person who is considered non racist just stand there and watch such injustice happen without charging the violators are just bad. You can't be a bystander. Pick a side.

I contemplate a lot of why racism exist in this world. It comes down to a few factors. People who are insecure about other races taking their jobs because they aren't good enough themselves to secure these jobs. When people say all lives matter it just really shows they are too ignorant to understand the message behind black lives matter. Because of the systemic racism that plagued this country for 400 years now, the black lives matter movement is now a device to put emphasis on that issue. A stir up for context and actions that wouldn't gain traction without the BLM. Also, if you aren't good enough to keep your job due to someone who is hungrier than you because he or she came from a less privileged place. I don't really know any other way to say this but time to step up your game. Don't blame others for your inability to grow. Plus the push for Artificial Intelligence will be replacing a lot more of our jobs in the future too, so please take that into consideration when you want to build a wall or ostracize a whole group of people. In addition to the insecurity from people, I believe parenting contributes. A baby born into this world is not automatically racist. The years of teaching of hate will eventually make that person who is now an adult to discriminate against another race. If those parents who are racist in the first place could just accept their wrongdoings and teach their kids better, I truly think racism can be eradicated.

My personal hope and action for the future? I have put some thoughts into how I can make this world a better place in terms of inclusivity. My action would be creating a strong Human Resource department for my fish farm in the future to hire more people of color who deems competent for the job. Also, I will make it a paid work day for my employees who want to just take the day off to protest for their cause. I truly think that peaceful protesting is one of the most powerful device our society can utilize to create changes.
